But one lady showed me her basket of Kakanin. The colors were so attractive and so I had to ask what they were. I honestly told her I didn't have any money with me. She asked me where we were staying and told me that I could get some and pay for them later. And so, since it was nearing lunch time already, I bought three of them for me and the two nannies (because I know they're also starving like me).
I love the toasted sweet grated coconut bits poured over the Kakanin.
And of course, it's best with my instant coffee.
We ate it as a heavy snack
and there were still left for breakfast.
Looks good but exactly which type of kakanin yan sis? As for me I love the suman with pinipig, sapin-sapin and kalamay :)
ReplyDeleteUhm yum... Hope to find a recipe for a kakanin - whichever's easiest at kung alin ang may ingredients available dito. Our snacks are very filling indeed =)
ReplyDelete@madz: the vendor told me it was maja blanca but I don't think it was because it was thick and sticky as sapin sapin. I'm not sure if it's their version of maja blanca but I couldn't be too sure.
ReplyDelete@Pinay: I'm not sure I would like to cook this for myself. Just imagine the clean up afterwards. Parang ang hirap tanggalin ng sticky food sa kitchenwares.
my favorite kakanins in the world are maja blanca and pichi pichi.
ReplyDeletehaha! sabi ko na nga ba maja blanca yan. just by looking at the color and texture of your kakanin, i can tell thats maja. sarap yan!
wow yummy! meron syang corn sis? i like the version of maja blanca with corn and cheese.
ReplyDeletelooks yummy sissy! try dolor's :)
ReplyDeleteWow! The kakanin looks yummy ^_^
ReplyDeleteWhat kakanin is that? I mean how do they call it in Nasugbo?
ReplyDeletethey call it maja blanca but I thought it resembles sapin sapin kasi it's thick and sticky. I have another idea what maja blanca looks and taste like kasi. Maybe it is their version of maja blanca.
ReplyDeletei love kakanin too esp. suman, dolor's sapin-sapin, puto & kutchinta from pangasinan, pichi pichi, biko and ube halaya! haha:D i miss the one that's only made in bicol.. they call it angko, it's like their version of mochi but with peanut paste inside!
ReplyDelete@Pink: oh, I love Angko too. My grandma brings some for me when she goes to manila because she knows it's my favorite treat from Bicol :)
ReplyDeleteI love sapin-sapin and this one too! I grew up in Batangas but I don't know what this is called. The maja blanca I know is the one with cheese and corn. :)
ReplyDelete@chew on this: yeah it's so addicting!! i miss it. you gotta try their pianono-- like a cake roll but with ground pili filling and pandecillos (pastry with ground pili) :D I miss 'em!
