Trail Mixes

I'm a fan of trail mixes.  However, the branded bags that we get to buy in the supermarkets are either non existent or too pricey for any regular Juan.

Yesterday, I had a big pack of Sugo spicy peanuts from home.  Before going up to the office, I passed by MiniStop to get some energy boosters (since work starts at past noon - the unholy hours).   I grabbed two packs of M&Ms (along with Kopiko which is my favourite coffee drink at the moment).

I didn't know that I had a trail mix in the making in my bag.  During our 10-minute break (yes, being a part-timer, I only get to enjoy 10 minutes break time), I decided to mix my Sugo and the chocolate candies.  While munching, I was thinking that in my next trip to the supermarket, I'll probably look for other things to mix with this one like salted pretzels, crunchy breakfast cereals, corn chips etcetera.   The list is limitless.

Yakisoba Spicy Chicken Flavor

I need two packs of these in order to call it a meal.

This is one of the instances that an instant noodle that is more cheaper is better than the real thing.  I tried ordering Yakisoba in Japanese restaurants but I haven't found anything that is more enjoyable than the instant form.

I truly love the Spicy Chicken flavor.  It's a good thing they manufactured them in the cheaper packs rather than buying the more expensive ones in plastic cups.  I love them semi-crunchy when I eat them.  I would hate any noodle that is already soggy from over soaking them in hot water.

Nong Shim Cup Noodle

I love noodles especially the instant ones.

I think I grew up with them.

And they helped me survive college days when my mom is not there to cook for me.

Although, I must always remind myself to eat them in moderation or else my kidney beans will be in big trouble... then I will be in big trouble.  And I wouldn't want that.

Our family have been buying the Nong Shim brand of cup noodles in the market for about a year or so now.  And I just recently enjoyed a cup.

The brown bits enlarges when it is submerged in hot water.
And it taste as good as Kikiam bits.

The one with red swirls taste like those you put in a Shabu Shabu pot.

Nong Shim noodles is one of my favorites because it is so spicy!
Just the way I like it.

Pocky Cookie Crunch

I have nothing but raves with this chocolate snack.

I have been eating their other snack which is chocolate-covered bread sticks with crushed almonds but this version is much much better.  Crunchy cookies stuck in crunchy bread stick through somehow crunchy chocolate.

It's my new ultimate favorite chocolate snack.  I swear by it.  It's a must-try.

I just wish they have a local version because it's quite expensive :(((

They have separate packs for sharing.
But believe me, I'd understand, you wouldn't want to share a box of this.

People have got to try this.  Suuuuper sarap!

Kakanin

We went to Nasugbu, Batangas last weekend.  Upon walking along the beach front of the resort we were staying, there were a couple of vendors who approached me selling their goods.  Unfortunately, I don't have my wallet with me because I wasn't planning on buying anything at that time.

But one lady showed me her basket of Kakanin.  The colors were so attractive and so I had to ask what they were.  I honestly told her I didn't have any money with me.  She asked me where we were staying and told me that I could get some and pay for them later.  And so, since it was nearing lunch time already, I bought three of them for me and the two nannies (because I know they're also starving like me).

I love the toasted sweet grated coconut bits poured over the Kakanin.
And of course, it's best with my instant coffee.
We ate it as a heavy snack
and there were still left for breakfast.

Rowena's Spicy Dilis

Whenever we go back to Manila from Tagaytay, we pass by the almost-always crowded Rowena's bakeshop.  Most people go there to buy the pies - particularly, their buko pies which already overshadowed Colette's.  I go there to buy my favorite Spicy Dilis.

I have the propensity for the crunchy stuff.  And their dilis are uber crunchy.  It's quite embarrassing especially when you're in a hushed placed and you start munching on it.

It's good because of the crunch and the taste.  It is actually sweet and spicy.  It is honey roasted sprinkled with sesame seed.  It's a gouty arthritic's nightmare.

I believe this is best eaten when you're trying to keep awake.  One dilis is enough to make you look for water and sweat and in my case, sniff (that happens to me when I eat spicy food because I start to have the runny nose - oh excuse me).
